Reaeration containing CO2

Hi, I have a question concernig CO2-reaeration. Does the model consider the pH? Or does the gas transfer of CO2 only depend on the surface cell water temperature? For example when groundwater with high alkalinity flows into a lake, the pH increase - does the modell dissolve more CO2 (neglecting OM and algae activity)? best regards from germany Michi PS: sorry for my bad English

Hi Michi, Gas transfer of CO2 across the water surface is dependent upon the cell temperature, atmospheric pressure (estimated using water surface elevation), and CO2 concentration. Depending upon which reaeration equation you're using, it can also be dependent upon wind speed (for lake equations), or water velocity (river reaeration equations). It doesn't appear that pH, which is a derived constituent in W2, is used in calculating gas transfer. Hope this helps, Chris
