nitrogen fluxes in model documentation

The manual left me confused about nitrogen fluxes. Based on the nitrate discussion in Chapter 3 and Appendix B, I perceived that the nitrate interaction with sediment involved diffusion into sediments followed by denitrification - so sediments are a sink. However, under Appendix C - Constituent fluxes, the model output provides NO3SED as a "source" of NO3 from the sediment compartment. Also, Appendix B shows denitrification as a source of ammonia nitrogen in equation B-34. Surely this is incorrect. Can someone clarify? Thanks, Kirk

Hi Kirk, Thanks for pointing out these errors. NO3SED should be specified as a sink and equation B-34 is incorrect and should not include the denitrification term. These will be corrected in the next manual update. Chris
