effect of tide

hi all, i want so simulate a river which is highly effected by tide. The river flows 2 times daily backwards (in the opposite direction). Can the CE-QUAL-W2 simulate such a river? Thank for for help Huyen

Huyen, Yes you can. Make the downstream boundary condition a head (water level) boundary condition. chris

hi Chris, Thank for your help. Should i put minus values on water level downstream boundary condition when the river flows backwards?

Hi Huyen, No. Just use the water level elevation. The model will calculate the direction of flow based on water level and momentum. chris
