layer height

how to decide the layer height? according to the water level? if the water level is 1.00m, the layer height is 0.2m, then it should be 5 layers? is it right? thank you

In your example there will be 5 active layers. You will also have 2 inactive layers, at the top and bottom, making a total of 7 layers. We typically use layer heights for rivers of 0.2 to 0.6 m, and 1 m thicknesses for reservoirs and lakes. You'll want to have enough vertical resolution to capture any type vertical variation (for instance, temperature stratification in a reservoir) that might exist in the system you're modeling. chris

Yes, the sum of the layer heights should be greater than or equal to the maximum water depth. chris
