Bathymetry file

Hello All. I have been using the Spokane River example as a rough guide for my own project and have been trying to modify the example files for my own use using the GUI. One thing I have noticed is that in these pre-existing bathy files, the WSEL card for each segment has an elevation that is several meters different than the elevation in the first active layer of the bathy file. I assume this is because the water level is actually lower than the modeled sides of the water body. However, when I Input the WSEL value for my lake, the program automatically sets the top of the 1st layer to essentially that depth . This is problematic as my first layer has 0 width as required. Consequently, the first "active layer" has a surface elevation that is 1 meter deeper than the actual surface water level. As expected all following deeper layers are adjusted by the value of 1 meter (DZ) that I have used. Questions Why are the examples showing a different elevation for the first layer than the value of WSEL. As I can not reproduce this using the GUI, how is this done? Would I directly edit the bathy file? How can I (or should I) prevent the boundary layer (my layer #1) from registering as the lake surface? Thanks Jon [addsig]
