Forums:

I am not sure exactly what you are asking for. Are you asking how to execute the program or how to display the output results? Jon PS Did you every find where the interpolation switch is in the V 3.1 software?[addsig]

Hi Jon, I am not able to execute the program and alsoto display the output results, can you guide me? Btw, i am still not able to locate the interpolation function in the program. Thks P/S If you have any simple samples related to coastal area, is it possible that you could share with me? My email address nus78@yahoo.com With regards, george[addsig]

Hi George. I am learning this modeling system also so my advise may not be the best. Hopefully if I recommend something that is incorrect, one of the other forum members/administrators will correct me. In order to run the model, make sure you have saved the control/input file as W2_con.npt. Check your input file by running the preprocessor check program PreW2.exe You can then execute your file by running the program W2.exe. All of these programs and related files must be in the same folder/directory. I recommend you download the example Spokane River from the CE-QUAL-W2 website and follow the manual to run it a few times to see how things work. [addsig]

Hi all Sorry for being tardy in checking posts, a few answers (1) Interpolation can turned ON/OFF for each dynamic input variable - this is found in the file w2_con.npt (2) All output files are also specified in the w2_con.npt file. These are generated by the w2.exe code based on the file names you specify in the control file. (3) Procedure (btw we are rewriting this as we speak and will include an updated set of example problems and a read_me file that lays this out clearly in the next week) All input files and w2.exe and prew2.exe must be in a common directory (The GUI Preprocessor can be used to edit the control file - I would recommend this for new users - otherwise you can use a text editor to edit the w2_con.npt file.) After constructing input files, run the preprocessor to catch errors (prew2.exe). Then if all OK - run the model (w2.exe) and then post-process using output files (usually called *.opt). Hope that clarifies it a bit - again, we will include more detailed information for users to get started a little easier soon. Scott[addsig]

George, When you say you are unable to run the program or display the results, what exactly are you trying to do when you "run the model" and what exactly are the results when you "run the model" (e.g., are you getting error messages, does the run time window come up on the screen but no information is displayed, etc.)? Also, be aware that we do not furnish a postprocessor for displaying the results. The model provides several types of output for viewing/postprocessing, but you will have to develop your own means of viewing the results. For example, the spreadsheet output file outputs results that are easily imported into a spreadsheet and then can be plotted up, but you will have to develop the plots yourself. This also applies to the time-series output. You will need to read up on the various types of output available. A description of the output files is located in Appendix C. Tom[addsig]

Hi Tom, "George, When you say you are unable to run the program or display the results, what exactly are you trying to do when you "run the model" and what exactly are the results when you "run the model" (e.g., are you getting error messages, does the run time window come up on the screen but no information is displayed, etc.)? " I am trying to use w2.exe to get the screen output and i am facing exactly what you have mentioned as above, getting error messages and no information is displayed on the run time window. Can you guide me along? Thks With regards, george[addsig]

George, Can you tell me what exactly the error message is that you are receiving. Also, are you saying that the run time window does or doesn't come up? Tom[addsig]

Hi, forrtl severe(157) Program Exception - access violation Image Pc Routine Line source w2.exe 0053B89F WATERBODY 10103 w2_cvf.f90 w2.exe 0049B249 CE_QUAL_W2 3653 w2_cvf.f90 w2.exe 00599459 Unknown Unknown Unknown w2.exe 00588F48 Unknown Unknown Unknown kernel32.dll 77E802ED Unknown Unknown Unknown The above is what it appears whenever i tried to run the w2.exe file. The run time window did show up with this error msg. Btw, is there any recommanded textbook that i can refer to to help me to have a better understanding of this compaq visual fortran program w2.exe? Thks for helping me. With regards, george[addsig]

George, It appears that somehow you are going outside of an array bounds thus causing an access violation. You need to zip up all your input files and e-mail them to me (colet@wes.army.mil) and I will take a look. Also, make certain you have run the preprocessor and eliminated any causes of error messages that are generated. Tom[addsig]

George, The User's Manual contains probably more information than you will ever want to know about CE-QUAL-W2. Tom[addsig]
