Constituent Computations

Hello, this is the first time I try to run the model. I started building the input files from the examples provided for the DeGray Lake. I created a virtual bathymetry to start to understand how the program works. I changed all the files that I think influence (such as w2_con.npt, bth.npt, graph.npt, shade, npt). Turn off all Constituent Computations. My intention was just to run the temperature at first. When I ran the pre-processor an error message appeared: "forrtl: severe (47): write to READONLY file, unit 5, file CONIN $" that generated an error log file pre: "either illegal or incorrect value card somewhere in the Following card
LDOM_P oFF
RDOM_P oFF
LPOM_P oFF
RPOM_P oFF
LDOM_N oFF

When I tried to run W2Control36.exe, the control file was read correctly, but clicking on the icon BTH, the following error occurred: "error while reading Occurs bathymetry file for a water body # file not found." Then, the following: run time error '11 'Division by zero.
My bathymetry is as follows:

Please, Which may be making this error?

Forums:

Send me all inputs files to address : jiri.jarosik@seznam.cz and I`ll try to find where is the problem. Jirka

I had the exact same error occur when I tried to view my bathymetry. Did you find a solution? Thanks, Steven

When you turn the constituents OFF, you don't need to change the "Constituent Dimensions" (manual page 363, C-5). "CONSTITU NGC NSS NAL NEP NBOD NMC NZP 3 1 1 1 0 0 1 If you change these numbers you have to correct all the things that related to the constituents in the control file. So if you don't want the model calculate constituents simply turn it off in "Constituent Computations" (page 484, C-126) CST COMP CCC LIMC CUF OFF OFF 3 That's why your model gives error for pre-processor. Fix it and you'll be OK

Hello again, I made that change but it changes nothing regarding the bathymetry opening error (When I tried to run W2Control36.exe, the control file was read correctly, but clicking on the icon BTH, the following error occurred: "error while reading Occurs bathymetry file for a water body # file not found." Then, the following: run time error '11 'Division by zero). This is the error that is giving me issues. Your time is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steven

Hi, Steven. I recommend use GUI to change control file first. DO NOT change control file directly in notepad or any other text editors unless you are pretty familiar with control file and know everywhere you need to change. By the way, did you install W2 tools. I think it's better than W2Control36.exe. If you wish, you can packaged your whole files and email to me.

I would suggest that you send the files to my email. We will continue communicating here so if we can find a solution the others can also use it for later. This is my email: amir.sadeghian@usask.ca
