braided streams in W2

I am having a problem modeling braided streams. The two braids in my case will be the main river channel and one branch that separates from the river and joins back again downstream. The issue at hand is can i have two entries (for the branch immediately upstream of the split) in the Branch Geometry block for the same BR? this is the only way i can think of that would allow specifying two different DHSs the branch just upstream of the split. Same applies to the branch immediately downstream of the joining. Would I have to have two entries in order to specify two different UHSs for the same branch? I read in the user's manual that "Two branches may not connect at the same segment of another branch". I am not sure how braided streams can be modeled if this statment holds true. Thanks. Rob answered this question. The trick is to have a main branch and have another branch come out of the main branch and then back to the main branch at a lower segment. I was trying to do it another way where i stopped the main branch, and had both sides of the braided part as two separate branches and then a fourth branch after they meet again. The second approach is the problematic one but it works just fine with the first approach. Thanks Rob. Mohammad

Just as a follow up on this question. I have a total of nine branches, the three most upstream branches do not have braiding and they flow into one another. The fourth through sixth branch each has a side braid. Should I do the first six branches first in the bathymetry file and then the three braids or do i need to put each braid after the main stem branch that it stems out off? Thanks, Mohammad

Number all of the branches on the main stem river from upstream to downstream first. So branches 1 to 6 first and hence first in the bathymetry file. Then branches 7 - 9 should be the side channels braids and then included in the bathyemtry file. This follows a basic convention of upstream to downstream on the mainstem first and then the side branches next. I hope this helps.
