meteorological input clarification

Concerning SRO, is it correct that if SROC in HEAT EXCH card is turned ON, and SRO values are input in the MET file, then CLOUD variable input in the MET file is moot? It sounds that way given the text explaining the Heat Exchange card: "The [SROC] variable allows the user to specify whether or not short wave solar radiation data are computed from cloud cover (the default), or whether the user specifies observed short wave solar radiation in the meteorological input file [METFN]". If this is true, creation of the MET file in my application becomes simpler... If I have included CLOUD variable in the MET file AND specified SRO values with SROC set ON in HEAT EXCH card, does the CLOUD variable still have an effect? Should I replace estimated CLOUD values w/ 0s (zeros) or leave blank? Any advice is appreciated. (CHRIS?)

Hi David, You'll still need to input cloud cover even if SROC is 'ON'. It is used to calculate long wave radiation. chris

Thanks Chris. DRG

Hi From where should I collect the "SRO" data for Detroit Reservoir, OR example? I was able to collect other meteorological features from the National Weather Service, but can't find SRO in it. Also, CLOUD feature is available 0-10, I would need to preprocess them, any quick resolution for that?
