Is CE-QUAL-W2 suitable for this simulation?

I want to simulate temperature and water quality in proposed chaili reservoir, in Iran. Is CE-QUAL-W2 suitable for this simulation? The length of the reservoir: 19 Km Maximum Width of the reservoir in 6 Km. And volume of the reservoir in Normal depth is : 450 MCM Maximum depth is 45 m.

  • Moreover, you can easily apply the future climate change scenarios on your calibrated model. This ability will provide great support for reservoir management and decision making.
  • CE-QUAL-W2 is very powerful for temperature and hydrodynamic calculations and will produce excellent results even with scattered data. But for the water quality and nutrient transport, you need high-quality data, particularly in the inlet. So plan your field monitoring program for data collection in advance.
  • The other option would be the WASP model. You can use it in 2D, and it should give you almost the same results.
