An error during the Longitudinal initial condition file openning

Dear Colleagues I am modeling the salinity intrusion in an estuary. The temperature of estuarine water is constant during the modeling then I introduce a constant temperature value during the model run. To introduce the initial salinity profile I made the "lpr.npt" file that contains the salinity values in the whole active cells. I prepared the "lpr.npt" according to the manual instructions but the model could not open the file and the following error message was reported. "Longitudinal initial conditions for temperature or constituents, but could not open lpr.npt" Would everybody please help me? Regards J. Parsa

Hello J. Parsa, I'd make sure that the file name listed toward the end of the control file at the LPR file name card is 'lpr.npt' and does not include any extra characters or tabs. Also, make sure that there isn't another file listed in the control file named 'lpr.npt' chris

Dear Chris Thanks very much indeed for your reply. I checked the file name in the control file. Its name is correct. Also the other file with the same name as 'lpr.npt' does not exist in the control file. By the way, I have this problem yet in the openning the 'lpr.npt' file. regards J. Parsa

Hi J. Parsa, Another possibility is that if you're using a linux or unix operating system, the file names are case sensitive. Thus if 'lpr.npt' is named in the control file, and the file in the directory is 'Lpr.npt', the program won't find the file. Also check the lpr.npt file permissions. The file should have a 'read' permission. chris

Dear Chris Thanks very much for your kindness. I use Winows XP operating system. Also I checked the file permission. The problem did not relate to this. Is there another possibility for this error? Sincerely yours J. Parsa
