Poasprocessor

Hi I need a postprocessor for CE-QUAL-W2 3.5. According to the user manual, the user needs to develop his or her postprocessor. Also there should be one postprocessor which will be supplied in further releases. Is it possible to obtain a beta or pre-release version of it.

There are currently no postprocessors for W2, any version, developed by the Water Quality Research Group. There may be commerical products available. We have not developed a post-processor for the model because there are so many diverse uses of model output and types of output that the software would nned to be quite complex and beyond the scope of upkeeping the water quality model with the latest algorithms and numerical solutions. If you need advice on output types, please feel to post here on the forum or email our research group.

Hi, I have recently started trying to use the vector plot output file (vpl). It's great because it allows me to see velocity profiles at any segment in my model. However, there isn't very much information on what each part of the output file represents. The first portion of the output file shows the layer thicknesses. Then there's a set of numbers that look like segment numbers, in random order, followed by two more sets of numbers. Do you know what each set represents? Past those sets, however, I can see that the output file is putting out the elevations for every layer of every segment, followed by a horizontal and a vertical velocity vector for every layer of every segment (all for a defined date). I've used those numbers to graph velocity profiles. Here are my main questions: 1. I am assuming that the horizontal velocity values come first in the output file, and then are followed by the vertical. Is that correct? 2. Does a negative number represent the flow of water going down, and positive represent going up? 3. Are the units on the vectors in m/s? (that's how they're defined in my graph file). Christina, The vpl, pfl and cpl files are the hardest to figure out. Page C-347 ion the user's manual provides some information on the output format, but really is best to also look in the model source code and find where the output is written for the vpl file. There you will find the exact format for the output. Horizontal velocities first, and then vertical negative velocities indicate water flow upstream or vertically up. The unit are m/s.
