Hydrocarbons

Alo Tom, I need to simulate hydrocarbons with CE-QUAL-W2, can you help me ?what can you tell me about it?
Forums:

You need to be a little more specific than just "hydrocarbons". The various forms of organic matter currently in the model are "hydrocarbons". I assume you are talking about something different, but I don't know for sure.

hello Tom, thanks for the quick answer. Im studing the polution caused by recreation boats in a reservoir. I have to simulate the evolution of the hydrocarbons released by the engines of the boats in the water. How can i simulate tihs with CE-QUAL-W2? Can you help me?

It depends on how complicated you need to be. There is a generic constituent that can be used to describe the behavior of a substance through 0 and/or 1st order decay rates, and/or settling velocities, and/or temperature rate multipliers. If the evolution of hydrocarbons that you want to simulate is more complicated than this, then you will have to "get under the hood" and make code changes consistent with what you are trying to model.

Hello tom. Once again than

I know of no such model, which means there is a very high likelihood that it does not currently exist in a non-proprietary code.

Hello tom. Once again thanks

You will have to modify the code if the hydrocarbons sorb onto particulate matter. You will also have to modify the code to include photolysis. Modeling bioaccumulation is a completely different ballgame and would require major modifications to the water quality algorithms. You will have to do this on your own. I can provide brief help via the forum, but I don't have funding to do someone else's project.
