arbitrary constituent

hi what means arbitrary constituent.for example can i introduce TKN instead of arbitrary constituent.because i dont know how do i intoduce verical profile of initial condition for TKN and TP not nitrate-nirate and phosphate.please guide me.thanks [addsig]

TKN is a derived variable that the model computes internally from state variables. The generic constituent is a generic formulation of a zero and/or a first order decay rate with an Arhennius temperature rate formulation. There is a very complete description in the User's Manual about the generic constituent and derived constituents.[addsig]
